So yesterday was the beginning of the DHCP interoperability test I mentioned. Here's the picture: A big table with a couple of VLAN switches in the middle, a rat's nest of power and ethernet cables, and 14 guys with laptops sitting around the outside, all in the middle of a stuffy (but nicely wallpapered) hotel conference room, testing their software. I'll be spending today and tomorrow there as well.
Last night I dreamed that I was doing the exact same thing, but in the hotel lounge/bar, with cocktails and soft lighting and tinkly music and a fireplace, and half the people were women, and everyone was all "Heyyyy, how would your client like to hook up with my server?"
I think I've been doing this too long.
Actually I think the hotel lounge got into my dream because that's where I had dinner last night. 15 freaking dollars for a hamburger! Though my outrage at this is somewhat mitigated by the fact that it actually was one of the best hamburgers I've ever eaten.
Hi ho, hi ho, it's off to run a multi-server preference-option test I go.
