Dec. 4th, 2007 03:46 pmI have retrocalcaneal bursitis (which means my heel hurts, sometimes a lot) and I forgot to take my vitamin I (buprofin) this morning, so it's really pissed off at me. So I'm not going to walk in Stanley Park again today. And anyway, it's bucketing down rain at the moment, but I'm hoping both things will be better tomorrow. And, for the first time, I'm rather pleased at the idiotic TSA rule about packing your liquids into a one-quart ziplock bag, because it means, with the ice machine down the hall, I have an ice pack.
I mentioned that the sun sets at 4:15, but today's the first day I've been near a window during the process. It doesn't set like it does at southern latitudes; it angles down, so the period of time when the sky is yellowy-pink and sunsetty lasts much longer.

View from my hotel room at 3:45 PM
Note product placement. The Westin is a pretty nice hotel (I already noted I like their shower facilities), but they sure do seem to be just as good as Americans at shafting you for every last penny. I had a $5 cup of tea this morning; yay for expense accounts. Also, they're doing major construction on every floor above the third. So far I've been spared the dulcet sounds of sledge hammer and sawzall that some of my colleages report wafting in from the rooms upstairs at 7:30 each morning like cheerful ambassadors of the dawn soon to come, but I suppose I'll get my turn as the crew works their way down the hall.
But, the rain's falling even harder now, the sunset is quite vivid, gulls are crying from the harbor across the way, and I don't feel like complaining about anything except my heel and the fact that my family is in another country. (I mean, another room. I insist, they're just in another room, and for some reason they can't come in here right now. Do not threaten my illusions.)
